“Freedom to Create” Tour

The “Freedom to Create” Tour picked up again in New York City. I flew into NYC and started prepping for the Finovate Fall demo. After all the equipment, mic and computers were all locked and loaded, I had the opportunity to watch some of the contestants' rehearsal speeches. Boy, they are very good.

I documented this journey with a first person account of what really happened behind the scenes up to the moment of stepping onto the main stage and gave my live demo. It was full of thrills and anxiety. Check out my personal experience and relive the moment here.

We were overwhelmed with congratulatory wishes and most importantly willingness to dig into our platform at our booth. We had a ton of lovely conversations with credit unions and lenders alike. We are scheduling meetings with all of them. The very next day while the conference was still happening, I hopped onto a plane and headed to Minneapolis, Minnesota for the next leg of the tour.

I made a pit stop near the United Nations and spent time doing a Q&A with Techstars Economic Mobility cohort managed by my Techstars MD Andres Barreto. I had a great time speaking about Sam and I’s personal experience going through Techstars NYC program exactly a year ago. Meeting face to face with this new cohort gave me hope that entrepreneurship is alive and well in this world! Pics will be posted in our investor newsletter, which you can sign up here.

I was invited to speak at the Great North Venture’s investor day! Meeting Rob Weber in person again sends me back to day one of LendAPI where he and his venture took the chance on us and gave us the opportunity to thrive and grow. We met the rest of the venture team at dinner and we had a lot of fun. You can see the tour pics here.

I retold the story of our founding and my personal journey with Rob Weber in a Q&A styled fireside chat. Afterwards I got to meet a ton of really smart business executives and other business leaders. It was a great experience and I thank the GNV team for this opportunity.

While I was at dinner with GNV, I received the news from Erik King and Kim Gerhardt that we won the “Best of Show” award at Finovate. Although I wasn’t there to celebrate with the team, I was nonetheless in great company with Joe, Grant, Spencer, Rob. I still can’t believe we won.

I got home two days ago and as soon as I stepped off the plane, I went back into the office skipping home and finished the day with more sales calls. I have to get the word out!

Next week, I am skipping out on FounderCon with Techstars and heading to Salt Lake City and spending time with our key partner LoanPro at their Salt Flat Summit. I’ve never been and it’s a great honor to be invited by LoanPro’s CMO Colton Pond. I can’t wait to see some friendly faces and have a grand ole’ time talking to industry professionals again at the heart of silicon slope. 

LendAPI Platform News

Now that our 300th release is behind us, we are working on the next version of our platform which will be released in the middle of next week. These releases come really fast. As a reminder, we release code daily with hotfixes and we have a general platform upgrade every other week. This coming week, our version increments to v3.0.1 with some incredible new features that will give you more control.

One of the new features is our Lead Gen Control panel. This control panel is a control valve to turn and on shut off leads as well as control the flow of leads. You can set a timer as well to start and shut off lead flow from your favorite lead generators.

Next week, we will detail all of the other 100 or so tickets in our v3.0.1 release.

Our new backend engineer started with us this past week and he’s already adding value. Vendant is a great software engineer and very responsive. We made a special announcement for his arrival, you can read it here.

LendAPI Platform Release Preview - v3.0.1

Lend Gen Control Panel

For a long time now, our clients have been requesting a way to visually control lead flow and this control panel is finally coming to our platform after months of planning and prioritization. 

You can set time of the day to purchase and volume of leads per each lead generator to control the overall flow of the volume of leads you would like to receive on a daily basis. You can also set a day of the week as well so you enable leads flowing through the weekend if you wish.

And you are able to turn the lead source on and off as you wish as well in case you’ve detected that there’s something wrong with the quality of the lead you are getting from each lead source.

If you aren’t familiar with Lead Generators, they are marketing experts that leverage all sorts of media outlets such as email, tv, radio and search engines to gather applicants looking for certain types of financial products. Their tech platform then gathers millions of these requests in real time and presents them in front of banks and prospective lenders.

However, banks and lenders must have a platform to receive these leads and manage these leads then accept these leads. For more information, please follow our blog and gain more insights into how to manage your lead traffic.

What’s Next?

There is no better time at LendAPI as we venture into the next stage of our platform growth. We are working on a few more features that will make your lives easier. 

SMS Platform 2.0: Link to Sign, Link to Pay, Video Conferencing. We are working on the next generation of SMS Platform, taking it to the next level where we can use templated text to get applicants to have a live call and these calls will also be swiftly recorded. Look out for these goodies coming to you at LendAPI.com

The Co-Applicant: We are picking this back up again after our historic v3.0.0 release. So hopefully we will get this feature out for clients to design their own dynamic co-applicant flow.

Reporting infrastructure. We are building a secure and speedy reporting platform. Not just a hastily made reporting tool that is slow and cumbersome to use. This is a high priority for us this coming release and we want this to get done as soon as possible to give the data back to the people, in real time. 

Lender/Bank Control. Lenders are asking us to configure waterfalls and randomization with their bank partners and we are working on these controls as well. Not too dissimilar to our Lead Gen Control Panel. Sam and I have given a lot of thoughts to how this could be done and give all of the configurations to our clients to direct traffic.
